He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”
Matthew 17:20
This craft works perfectly with the ‘Mountain Mover’ lesson which is part of the ‘Mountain Mover’ teaching series..
How to Make the Mustard Seed of Faith Bracelet Craft:
You will need: small wooden cross pendents, mustard seeds, googly eyes, glue gun and glue sticks.
1) Start by taking one googly eye and peeling the white backing off it. This will take some trying! The best way to do this is to find the weakest area of the sealing on the plastic. Then pinch it together or use your nails to get between the layers to help the white plastic pop off. Take the black plastic out of the googly eye and throw it away.
2) Take your mustard seed and put a blob of glue using your hot glue gun into the googly eye – sealing the transparent plastic and the shite plastic backing together with the mustard seed firmly inside. Then put an extra blob of glue on the back of the eye and stick it to the wooden cross.
If you are preparing this craft for a big group it may take you a while! Pop something on the TV as you work or have a good chat to someone… you’ll be glad you did! Also, watch out for your fingers – hot glue guns get hot fast!
When I did this with my children’s ministry I prepped the crosses but left the children to thread their own beads onto the bracelet. They will love designing their own!
4) Now it’s time to thread a piece of elastic through the cross. Wrap the elastic around a bead and tie it to the bead. Then you can start threading beads through. Then tie the elastic back onto that first bead and you’re done!
