How to Play:

You will need to wrap a box with some money inside it. Then wrap more layers. In between each layer you can place a different present. Invite your players to play the game of pass the parcel, allow them to open each layer and keep the present. Let them know that there will be a choice to make when the final box is opened. Make sure there is enough presents for each player and that you know how many layers there are within the present. Then, just before the box is finally opened ask the player to decide what they would like to do with what is inside the box. They can decide to keep it for themselves, give it away to someone in the room or donate it to a charity. [If preferred you can allow them to see the content of the box first.]

Applications:

GIVING & RECEIVING: Isn’t it great when you get given things?! In the ‘Pass the Christmas Prezzie’ game everyone got given something! How amazing is that?! Yet Jesus taught us that it is much greater to give than to receive. What did you decide to do with the money in the box? Did you receive it for yourself or did you decide to give it away? It’s not always an easy decision to make, in fact, sometimes it is quite costly. Luke 6:38, Proverbs 11:24-25, 2 Corinthians 9:7.

GRATITUDE: When you get given presents do you remember to say thank you? Did you remember to say thank you in the ‘Pass the Christmas Prezzie’ game? Psalm 118:24, 1 Thessalonians 5:18,  Psalm 136:1.

LOVE: The ‘Pass the Christmas Prezzie’ game shows us how amazing the love of God is. Just as we gave away so many presents in this game, God gives to us in extravagant ways. His love for us is extravagant! Just think about how much he has given us – and how much he gives us each and every day! John 3:16, 1 Corinthians 13:4-8,  John 15:13.
