Session Theme: Jesus didn’t just die—He gave everything so we could truly live.
Core Scripture:
- Romans 5:8 – “But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
BIG IDEA:
The ultimate act of love isn’t flashy—it’s sacrificial. Jesus chose to die in our place. Like Noble Six in Halo: Reach, He held the line so we could live—but on a far greater, eternal scale.
Icebreaker:
“Hero’s Call”
Give them 2 choices:
- Sacrifice your life to save your team (you get nothing).
- Escape and win the match—but leave others behind.
Debrief:
- Why is it hard to choose sacrifice?
- What makes a hero in real life vs. in games?
SPOT the Simple Meaning:
- What stood out to you in this session?
- Why do you think Noble Six’s sacrifice hits so hard?
- How does Noble Six’s story relate to Jesus’?
- Why is choosing to sacrifice more powerful than being forced to?
- What does Romans 5:8 tell us about God’s love?
- What makes Jesus’ death different from any other sacrifice in history?
- What’s the difference between being forced to die vs. choosing to die for someone else?
- How does it feel to know Jesus died for you—before you got your life together?
SEARCH the Scriptures:
Scripture Dive:
Read Romans 5:8 together.
Ask:
- When have you felt unworthy of love—but still received it?
- What does it mean that Jesus died while we were still sinners?
SENSE HowYou Feel:
Prompt:
“Imagine Jesus looking at your worst day and saying, ‘I still choose you.’
How would that change how you see Him—or yourself?”
Ask:
“Take a quiet moment. Imagine Jesus saying: I saw everything—and I still chose to die for you.
What do you want to say back to Him?”
Allow silent reflection, journaling, or prayer.
Offer a chance to talk privately with a leader or pray with someone.
SEEK God:
Challenge:
This week, reflect on this:
“If Jesus gave everything for me, how should I respond?”
Whether that means exploring faith, asking questions, or surrendering your heart—remind them:
“This is more than a story. It’s an invitation.”
Challenge them to ask themselves this week:
“Have I accepted the sacrifice Jesus made for me—or am I still trying to earn it?”
