🎮 God Mode: Level 2 – The Great Glitch
🎯 Big Idea:
Sin is like a glitch in God’s perfect design—it breaks things. It separates us from God, others, and even ourselves. But Jesus came to restore what was broken.
Session Theme: Sin: The spiritual glitch that broke the game
Core Scripture:
- Romans 3:23 – “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
- Romans 6:23 – “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
- Romans 5:8 – “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
SPOT the Simple Meaning:
Glitched Out!
Ask: “Have you ever had a game glitch so badly you had to restart it? What happened?”
Quick go-around or a couple of fun stories to break the ice.
Alternatively: Split into teams. Each team is given a “glitched” game scenario (e.g., a game character keeps walking into a wall, or dialogue repeats forever).
Teams have 3 minutes to act it out or draw it, and the group guesses what the glitch is.
(Keep it fun and fast-paced!)

DiscussionÂ
- What stood out to you in the message?
- How does the idea of sin as a “glitch” help you understand it better?
- Have you ever felt like something in life was “broken” or unfair, even when you tried to do everything right?
- Why do you think people ignore or downplay sin?
- What do you think about the idea that Jesus entered the world to fix the glitch?
To dig deeper, ask:
- Why do you think people keep repeating the same mistakes, even when they know it hurts them?
- What’s the difference between failing and being “glitched” by something deeper?
- Romans 6:23 talks about sin leading to death. What do you think that means beyond physical death?
- Can you relate to the feeling of being “stuck” in a broken system or situation?
- How does it feel to know God didn’t leave us in that brokenness?
Say:
“Take a minute to think about this question silently:
Is there any part of your life that feels glitched, broken, or stuck right now?”
Encourage them to reflect quietly or write it down.
SEARCH the Scriptures:
Read Romans 5:8 aloud:
“But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
Say: Jesus didn’t wait for us to get perfect. He stepped into our glitched world and paid the price to fix it.
Ask:
- How does that verse change the way you view God?
- If Jesus knows how broken we are and still loves us, what does that say about who He is?
Encourage personal reflection time (writing, sketching, or prayer journaling).
SEEK God:
This week, notice where things feel broken—at home, school, or in relationships—and ask:
“What would Jesus do here?”
Encourage them to journal or talk to a trusted leader if they want help processing it.
Give them this question to take home:
“Where in my life do I feel stuck—and what would it look like to ask God to help?”
Challenge them to write down one area they want to “debug” with God’s help this week.
