Session Theme: Jesus rose from the dead—and invites us to rise with Him.
Core Scripture:
📖 Matthew 28:6 – “He is not here; He has risen, just as He said.”

Just when it looked like the end, Jesus rose again—bringing victory, healing, and new life. Like in Journey, we don’t get up by our own strength. Resurrection lifts us into a new way of living.

🎮 1. Icebreaker (3 mins)

“What’s Your Favorite Comeback?”
Ask: “What’s the best ‘respawn’ or comeback moment you’ve seen in a game, show, or life?”
Let 2–3 students share.

🎮 2. Interactive Opener (7 mins)

“Frozen or Flying” Game
Ask:

  • What does it feel like when life is cold, dark, or hopeless?
  • What does it feel like when you’re lifted, soaring, or free?

Encourage them to describe or even act out the difference between trudging through snow vs. soaring in the sky.

Debrief:
Say, “That’s the difference resurrection makes.”

SPOT the Simple Meaning:

Discussion:

Use these starter questions:

  • How did the game Journey help you feel what resurrection might feel like?
  • Why do you think Jesus’ resurrection is such a big deal in Christianity?
  • What’s something in your life that feels “dead” right now?
  • How could Jesus bring new life into that area?

SEARCH the Scriptures:

Ask:

  • Why does the resurrection change everything in Jesus’ story?
  • What are some “death moments” people face today (emotionally, spiritually, mentally)?
  • How is Jesus’ resurrection more than just a happy ending—how is it a new beginning?
  • Read Matthew 28:6. Why is this verse so powerful?

👉 Scripture Connection:
Read John 11:25: “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me will live, even though they die.”
Ask: What does that promise mean for us today?

SENSE How You Feel:

Prompt:
“Close your eyes and imagine the light lifting you from the snow—cold, weak, broken…
Now imagine Jesus saying: ‘You don’t have to stay down. Rise with Me.’
What would it look like to say yes?”

Let them reflect in silence, pray, or write a one-sentence response in a journal.

SEEK God:

Guided Reflection:
Ask students to quietly reflect:

  • Where have I collapsed spiritually?
  • What if Jesus is reaching out to lift me—not shame me?

Then say:
“If you want to respond, just whisper in prayer: ‘Jesus, lift me. I want to rise with You.’”

Give them space to respond silently or write a short prayer in a journal.

Challenge:

Ask students to consider this during the week:
“What area of my life needs resurrection?”
Challenge them to talk to God honestly about it—even if it’s messy.

This week, when you feel overwhelmed, remember:
You’re not meant to crawl. You’re meant to soar.
Encourage them to memorize Matthew 28:6 or John 11:25.

Remind them:
Jesus didn’t just rise so we could admire Him—He rose so we could rise too.
