I created these ‘Message Notes’ Sermon Notes for Kids and Teens out of a need for something to engage our children and young people during the sermon at our new church plant. They are aimed at anyone from ages 8 and up. Many of the children and young people coming through our doors were going to be unchurched. It was important for us to create something that was easily accessible to read and understand.
Aren’t Sermon Notes Just a Distraction?
Sermon notes are used, not as entertainment or an escape from the service, but to help kids connect with what the preacher is saying. If your kids are not in adult church often, it can help to give them something to do whilst they are listening. Many children learn by doing; they are kinaesthetic learners. This means they need to be actively engaged in their learning.
You may find that you have some children that just can’t sit still in your kids or youth ministry. These ‘Message Notes’ Sermon Notes for Kids and Teenshelp to give children and teens something to do so that they can take control of their learning, so that they have ownership of their faith. This is a great practice to get into. Many churches encourage their congregations to take notes during a preach. It often helps the message ‘stick’. These sermon notes are also a fantastic way to take the message home with you.
Sermon Notes: An Opportunity to Remember
Children and young people can read over their sermon notes time and time again. If they have learned something new that they didn’t know, or if they heard something they want to remember, sermon notes help!
Some children and young people prefer to doodle or draw as a form of learning. Therefore there is also an option to do this on the sermon notes. I pray that these sermon notes are a blessing to you and your ministry!
