BIG IDEA: GOD IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN MONEY
AIM: The ‘Money Money Money’ Childrens Ministry Teaching Series on Generosity aims
SONG THEME TUNE IDEAS:
These songs are chosen to remind children that when we follow Jesus we choose to ask God to be in control of our whole lives – including our money!
LESSON 1: GIVING MONEY
BIG IDEA: I CAN BE A CHEERFUL GIVER
STORY: THE WIDOW’S MITE
PASSAGE: LUKE 21:1-4 AND MARK 12:38-44
In this session children will learn how the Temple were robbing people of their money. When Jesus saw a widow giving money to the Temple he didn’t stop her. Children will learn that God loves a giving heart – we can give wisely and greatly!
2) SAVING MONEY
BIG IDEA: I CAN PLAN HOW TO SAVE MONEY
STORY: THE PARABLE OF THE TALENTS
PASSAGE: MATTHEW 25:14-30
The ‘Saving Money’ session encourages children to see that there is a right and wrong way to save. As the children read through and watch the parable of the Talents they will be challenged to think about how they plan to save money in the best way possible.
[The sessions below are outlines of sessions that I would like to write but currently do not have the time. Hence the teaching series is only currently 2 weeks long.]
3) SPENDING MONEY
This session looks at the parable of the lost son in a new way; the son’s spending habits. Children will be challenged to think about how they spend their money.
4) EARNING MONEY
When it comes to learning about earning money, the Workers in the Vineyard parable is a perfect example of what it means to work for what you have been promised and to be content with your pay. Children will learn what it means to earn money in a good and honest way.
